‘What I like About My Hometown’ Student Scholarship Opportunity
Summit Mayor Elizabeth Fagan, MD, in collaboration with the New Jersey State League of Municipalities, announced a scholarship opportunity for high school juniors and seniors in Summit.
The Louis Bay 2nd Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship Competition offers three $1,000 scholarships to students across New Jersey. The competition invites participants to submit an essay on the theme “What I Like About My Hometown,” highlighting the contributions of municipal leaders and volunteers in shaping local communities.
“Our elected officials and volunteers work hard year-round, every day, sharing their time and talents to better our community,” said Fagan. “It is my hope that this scholarship competition encourages our young citizens to consider how this important work shapes our city and makes it the special place we all love. I hope many students apply and take advantage of this excellent opportunity.”
The application deadline is March 7, 2025. Summit high school juniors and seniors are eligible to apply. Mayor Fagan will select one semi-finalist from Summit, who will be named a state semi-finalist. The New Jersey State League of Municipalities Scholarship Committee will then choose 15 finalists, including three winners.
