Growing with the Y: Turning a Passion into a Career

Alicia Castro discovered her passion at the Y, starting part-time in School Age Child Care (SACC) during her senior year of college. When she needed to fulfill an internship requirement for graduation, she turned to the Y, knowing of their wide range of volunteer opportunities. She landed an internship in the marketing department that aligned well with her field of study.

Alicia was offered a part-time marketing position after completing her internship, all while continuing to work as a SACC counselor and finishing her degree. Alicia continued to grow with the Y and seamlessly transitioned into a full-time role upon graduation.

“The YMCA has been instrumental in kickstarting my career,” Alicia says. “I’m so grateful for the chance to learn and grow here.”
