Strengthening the Cranford Community Through Support and Fundraising
Tell us about Project Home of Cranford!
Project Home of Cranford is a 501(c)(3) organization that was started in 1988 with the specific purpose of raising funds to be given to Cranford Family Care. This aid is distributed to Cranford residents who are experiencing difficulty paying their rent or mortgage due to financial downturns in their lives caused by illness, job loss, or other unexpected events. Here we are, 36 years later, and this support is needed now as much as ever.
The organization consists of dedicated volunteers who contribute their time, talent, and energy to raise the necessary funds to support their neighbors in need. Members of Project Home of Cranford work together as a team to ensure the success of each event.
Project Home runs several fundraisers each year. They organize the Town Wide Garage Sale, which is held each spring and fall. Initially a fall-only event, about three years ago, we added a spring sale as well, which has become just as popular. In March of each year, there is a Ladies’ Night Out, featuring a sit-down dinner and tricky tray auction. Project Home members reach out to local businesses for sponsorship and donations of goods or services to be included in the tricky tray. They then assemble beautiful baskets with the donated items. This event is always highly anticipated, with tickets selling out quickly.
In August, we host “Dunk a Cop” at the Cranford Police Department’s National Night Out. The Cranford Police officers are good sports, volunteering to be dunked into the tank, all to help their neighbors.
What is the most popular fundraising event each year?
Ladies Night Out is our most popular event and the largest fundraiser each year. Held annually in March, this event attracts over 200 women from the area. As with all our fundraising efforts, all proceeds from the event go to Cranford Family Care to support housing costs for residents in need. Cranford Family Care screens those requesting financial assistance and distributes the funds.
Are there any upcoming events?
We have the Town Wide Garage Sale on April 27 and Dunk a Cop in August!
How can the community get involved?
Anyone looking to get involved can contact us through our email or Facebook Messenger. Meetings are held from September to May on the second Wednesday of each month at the community center.
Anything we missed?
Project Home is unique in that it is the only organization where all of their fundraising efforts go to Cranford Family Care, specifically for housing. Those who would like to donate directly to the non-profit or learn more can do so on our website: https://www.projecthomeofcranford.org/
