Our official 3 year anniversary was on February 5th! We celebrated on the 3rd with live music by The Jenks, Sandwich Freak food truck, the release of We Friggin Made it – Red Ale and Five Cheers for Three Years – small batch Hazy IPA. Our favorite tradition is hanging disposable cameras around the brewery for people to take photos on throughout the day that we get developed and post when the roll is full.

Corinne Grant, part owner answered these two:

Congratulations on 3 years! Can you tell us how Lion’s Roar came to be?

Lions Roar was born out of the need to pursue a new-found passion in Tim’s life in the face of a high demand career and our new parent responsibilities. When his dad got the grim diagnosis of lung cancer in 2016, it lit a fire in him to chase his dream of taking his home brewing to the ultimate level and open a brewery. I felt that fire from him and immediately agreed to embark on what will surely be one of the biggest accomplishments of our life!

What makes Lion’s Roar stand out from other breweries?

Brewing high quality beer was obviously the number one priority when conceptualizing the brewery, but delivering a killer vibe came in at a close second. Apart from the beer feedback, what we hear over and over again is that our customers love their experience with us, love our staff, and love the feel of our space. Our location being in a downtown vs warehouse district is also another big difference between Lions Roar and other breweries. We have the luxury of having a large number of great shops and restaurants within walking distance of us which is wonderful considering we are BYOF(ood). We are solely focused on being a neighborhood brewery, where friends, family and neighbors can come together over a delicious, fresh beer.

Maddie Bowen, General Manager and Events Coordinator answered the rest:

Any beer recommendations for someone visiting the brewery for the first time?

Tim, the owner and brewer and assistant brewer, Eric and Ray, pride themselves on making beer styles that aren’t necessarily easy to find from Altbiers to Black IPAs to dry hop sours and Imperial Stouts. While we continuously add to our seasonal selections, we try to keep certain beers on tap – our Maddie Bo, American Lager and Never Stop in the Circle, New England IPA are two flagship beers we brew often. We offer 4 packs of them as consistently as we can. The Maddie Bo is a crisp, easy to drink American Lager, and the Never Stop in the Circle is a hazy, juicy, citrusy IPA that is perfectly refreshing and hoppy. We offer flights which are (4) 4 oz pours so you’re able to try a wide variety upon visiting before committing to a full pour!

Tell us about some of the events hosted at Lion’s Roar during the year!

We love being a more intimate music venue and supporting local artists or artists traveling to the area. You can enjoy live music nights several times a month in our taproom during colder months or in our outdoor beer garden during warmer months, weather permitting. We host trivia nights with Trivia Revolution twice a month, and we LOVE sports. Our staff is big on hockey and football Sundays are always a great time in the taproom. We installed a projector and projector screen for the SuperBowl, and plan on using that a lot more for big sporting events. We have the Fubo sports package including MSG network, ESPN+ and TNT, covering most if not all games you’d want to catch! The best way to keep up to date with events is by following us on socials or checking the home page of our website!

Tell us about Waggin’ Wednesdays!

Waggin’ Wednesdays started as a day each week pup owners could come and socialize their dogs and enjoy a cold one with their furry best friends! We still encourage Wednesdays for visiting with a dog, but any other day of the week we just ask for a call or text to check if there’s good space for a dog to visit. We’re fortunate enough to have an outdoor space and an indoor space but on our busier nights, or when there’s a private event, it might be crowded enough where a dog might not feel as comfortable.

Anything else we missed?

We’re a small business and operation with a huge heart. Our staff is tight knit and always ready to accommodate and make sure you have the best visit possible! Maddie Bowen and Corinne Grant were recently on That Westfield Podcast talking all things Lions Roar from conception to present day.
