Some fun things to do this winter
By Grace Lisnock
Enjoy a TRUE snow day
Flip your pajamas inside out, throw a spoon under your pillow and say a prayer that you wake up to your parents telling you to go back to bed because there is too much snow. Hot chocolate, homemade pancakes and playing in the snow. If you are up for a challenge, build a makeshift hill to sled down in the driveway. Either way, spend all day outside – soak up every second of childhood fun.
Watch a movie
All holiday movies are more enjoyable in the winter months, when you get to snuggle up on the couch with a comfy blanket and some treats. Movies are a great way to relax and recharge.
For some fun: Elf, The Grinch, The Night Before Christmas and every single Home Alone.
For a scare: Violent Night, Better Watch Out and The Children
Go ice skating
Although requiring a lot of balance, a fun winter activity to verse yourself in is ice skating. It may take a few tries to stay stable on your feet, but it is a fun way to hang out and share some laughs. Don’t worry, it won’t hurt until the seventh or eighth fall.
Go sledding
All you need is a hill, snow and a sled to enjoy this activity. Sledding is a great way to feel free flying down a hill.
Bake something sweet
The sweet aromas of freshly-baked sugar cookies and muffins radiating from the kitchen makes the bitter chill outside just a tad cozier. To elevate the experience, put on a chef’s apron and pretend you are in a baking show.
Go skiing
Another task that may not be easy, but is certainly fun to get your body moving is skiing. Within no time it will have you breaking a sweat, forgetting about the 20 degree weather. Skiing with family or friends is a great bonding experience, and fun to push yourself to new heights (literally) this winter.
Host a game night
Everyones loves competition, right? Gather your favorite board games, and maybe least favorite people to prepare to crush them in some of the best games. If you really have time, grab Monopoly.
Lighting a candle
or start a fire
I’m not sure about you, but my favorite part of the winter season is the aroma of burning wood or a warm candy cane scented candle from Bath & Body Works flowing through my house.
Go shopping
Whether you are getting gifts for a loved one, or treating yourself for surviving another holiday season, shopping is a great way to kill time and put well earned money to good use.
