Summit Downtown, Inc. (SDI) is proud to announce another successful Sunday Funday at the Summit Farmers Market (SFM). Sunday Funday events are special event days at the market with celebrity appearances, live/DJ music, cooking contests and much more, held throughout the year to add to the fun at the market.

Sunday, October 15th was a beautiful Sunday Funday at the market filled with activities! The day started with DJ Mr. Socks spinning tunes from 9am-12pm. NBC’s own Produce Pete made an exciting special appearance selling and signing his new cookbook “They Call Me Produce Pete”. Fans were able to say hello, grab an autograph and snap a photo with Pete at this exciting opportunity to meet and greet!

Pumpkin enthusiasts were encouraged to bring their creativity with impressive dishes for the judges to try, thinking outside the box of just pie for the Somethin’ Pumpkin contest! First place winner, Theresa Comer showed her talents with her unique Pumpkin Enchiladas, wowing judges Mayor Nora Radest, Chef Adele Flores and Produce Pete. Second place winner Margo Strauss showed off her sweet skills with Pumpkin Macarons. The other entries included pumpkin cheesecake bars and pumpkin bread. Judges evaluated each dish based on taste, presentation, originality, and overall appeal. Once the dishes were judged, the public was able to sample them! Winners received prize ribbons and SFM Fun Money to spend at the market. Don’t miss next year’s exciting baking contests starting in June 2024.

The market is run by SDI and is located in the Park & Shop Lot #1, at the corner of DeForest Avenue and Woodland. It is open every Sunday through December 17 from 8AM -1PM (8am-12pm in December).
