Summit Board of Education Welcomes New Board Member
The Summit Board of Education welcomed Ms. Eileen Kelly as the newest member of the Board during the Reorganization meeting on Monday, May 15, 2023. Ms. Kelly will serve on the Policy and Communications Committees. During the Reorganization meeting, Mr. Yon Cho was appointed as President of the Board, and Ms. Walidah Justice was appointed as Vice President.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead our school board for the upcoming school year,” said Yon Cho, President of the Summit Board of Education. “My predecessors have left big shoes to fill; my fellow board members and I will make every effort to ensure we meet the high standards expected by our community.”
Ms. Kelly has served as Technology Chair for the Overlook Auxiliary, has assisted five Summit businesses to secure over $25,000 in COVID-19 grants, and has volunteered as an ESL teacher at the Summit YMCA. She is currently a mentor at American Corporate Partners: a Non-Profit mentorship program for Veterans. Professionally, Ms. Kelly is Head of Business Operations at Dow Jones where she oversees the integration of all mergers and acquisitions activity. Prior to Dow Jones, she spent 15 years working in a variety of financial, operational, and strategic roles including four years in Buenos Aires, Argentina as an Economic Analyst. In 2016, Ms. Kelly also became a tech entrepreneur and Co-Founder of a mobile travel application called WingIt. Ms. Kelly holds a BA from Colgate University. She lives in Summit with her husband, Matthew, and their two young sons.
