What team are you on?
Chatham High School Lacrosse.
How long have you participated in this sport/activity?
I have played lacrosse since I was in Kindergarten.
What are you looking forward to this season?
I am looking forward to playing my last year with the same girls that I have been playing with since I was young and hopefully going far enough to win our section again.
Have you traveled anywhere related to this sport?
Yes, I have traveled to Texas, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland. Pretty much up and down the east coast for club tournaments over the years.
Have you met anyone famous in this sport/activity?
I have been coached by Sammy Jo Tracey and Ally Mastroianni; they are players who play for the women’s USA lacrosse team. I also met Lamar Jackson at a restaurant in Maryland while I was there for a tournament.
What awards or honors have you won?
I was named second team all-league and second team all-county my junior year. My team also won our section and county that same year.
What have you learned from participating in this sport? What do you like best about the sport?
I have learned how to work well with all different types of people and to respect my teammates and coaches on and off the field. My favorite part of lacrosse is being able to put aside everything else going on and just focusing on the practice or game ahead of me.
What is your favorite moment?
My favorite moment was when we won our county final game my junior year. We had lost to the team earlier in the season by a lot and then came back and beat them in a very important game.
What do you plan on doing next year?
Next year I will play lacrosse and attend Elon University.
One tip for someone looking to get into this sport/activity:
One tip I would give younger/new players is to not be afraid to ask questions. If you don’t understand a drill or can’t remember a play, always ask a friend or the coach. Most of the time you will help out a few other girls who are too scared to ask and you can always learn from the players around you.
