Tell us a bit about your business. How did it start?
Growing up I had a family dentist who took pride in his art, with patients and the community at large. Everyone felt welcomed. I also wanted to share my passion and love of dentistry to my patients. From a routine cleaning to a complex implant smile makeover, I wanted to make sure our patients knew they are my priority!
My dental practice opened its doors in June 2021. I renovated the dental space from the previous retired dentist with a more modern and serene vibe. The layout brings a more calming yet functional set-up. I realized when I was designing the office, I wanted to radiate a calming vibe while working efficiently. Dentistry can be enjoyable and stress-free! Our patients are exposed to high end technology throughout the office, which helps with their customized treatments.
Why did you choose Cranford?
I chose Cranford because I wanted to establish a dental practice in a family friendly town. The town provides a robust community connection and prides on local business support. Cranford provides a sense of togetherness and family when you walk in the neighborhood. While I was building the office, I visited the local stores, sat in the Eastman circle, and connected with countless neighbors. The Downtown area gives you the sentiment of togetherness and I wanted to continue this impression into my dental office.
What do you like best about the local community?
Cranford is the place to be! There is always a local community event that brings families, friends, businesses and visitors to this town. I happen to admire this community because the connections you make with people are invaluable. You can learn from others on how to thrive as a family-oriented business owner. I love the local community. Having long time businesses next door is also a major perk! They share their valuable pearls of wisdom to a new business owner like myself.
What makes your dental practice special?
My dental practice is unique because we provide comprehensive family dental care with a focus on Prosthodontics. Prosthodontists are the specialists in dentistry who have advanced specialty training in creating the best oral health, esthetic look, and proper function for your oral health. As a prosthodontist, I specialize in dental implants, veneers, crowns, and dentures for the patient and work with general dentists and other specialists. Moreover, esthetic makeovers allow me to share my natural artistic flare to my patients. I am very conscientious of aesthetics and the final outcome of your smile.
You also have a great location. Tell us about that.
The office overlooks Downtown Cranford and the famous Eastman Clock is our backdrop view. We coined the phrase for the office: “Specialized dentistry with a view.” The aerial view provides me with a connection to the people of Cranford. It really is a sight to see.
You recently earned high honors as one the state’s best dentists. You must be so proud!
Becoming a Top Dentist for 2023 is a very high honor because I strive to be the best for my patients. From learning, teaching, lecturing internationally, sharing my knowledge with others, and bringing these learned skills to our patients has not been overlooked. I stay current with literature and evidence-based dentistry to provide my best art and knowledge to our dental family.
What inspired you to follow this career?
I ventured into dentistry because I desired to be a community leader in helping others improve and maintain good oral health while transforming someone’s life in a positive way through a healthy smile. Dentistry also allows me to venture into academia, research and clinical application. As a clinician, I can apply advanced technologies and techniques to current scientific knowledge to achieve the best outcome for each patient. Furthermore, being a Prosthodontist allows me to work as a team member in complex treatments when patients are in need of more advanced dental procedures.
What were some challenges you faced along your journey?
Challenges I have faced along my journey are navigating the family, work, and life balance. My commitments to my family, teaching and work were very demanding when my children were younger. But I have learned that I could have personal wellness and thrive as a wife, mom, professor, and business owner while still maintaining a balance in all aspects of my life.
What would you tell someone about starting their own business? What have you learned?
I have learned to share my aspirations with a close friend. It is a great form of accountability in making sure you are accomplishing your personal mission in life. I would also tell someone who is starting their own business to not doubt yourself. If your passion outweighs your fears, you will succeed. Focus on your purpose and others, and your business will thrive. Folks will see your radiance and gravitate to you.
