How long have you lived in the neighborhood?

My husband and I bought our first home in Cranford about 15 years ago. We started off in a townhome and in 2014 moved to our current home in the Indian Village section of Cranford. We love it!

What do you like best about the town?

I’m not sure I can keep this to just one page! Cranford’s desirable small-town vibe, the vibrant downtown filled with adorable shops, restaurants for any taste, and the jammed packed calendar of events our entire family can enjoy are just a few of the benefits of living here.

The list can go on and on, but I’d say the best thing about this town is the true sense of community that our residents and business owners have. People love this town and support it in any way they can. This is evident when you read the posts & comments on local Facebook groups, attend events run by organizations such as Cranford Family Care, Cranford’s Women’s Club, Project Home, and the Cranford Jaycees to name a few. It is truly a town of neighbors supporting neighbors and I can understand why people always come back home!

Describe what your company does:

I am a licensed real estate salesperson brokered by Signature Realty NJ. I educate, guide and help people achieve their real estate goals and dreams. Whether they are buying, selling or looking to invest, they can count on me to navigate the process with them.

How long has it been in business?

I’ve been in the real estate industry for a little over a year. During the pandemic, I decided to make a career switch to something I would enjoy doing and that would also allow me to be a more active participant in our community. It’s been an amazing journey so far and I believe it will only get better.

How did you decide on this industry (events that led up to where you are now, etc.)?

After a successful 16 year run as a senior executive in the retail industry, I realized it was time for a change. The pandemic offered me the opportunity of time to reflect on my life, my family and my career. I spent this time gaining clarity into what was most important to me. Knowing retail was in my rearview, I wanted to leverage the analytical skills I developed in corporate America and combine that with what I do best, which is connecting with people and helping them achieve their goals. I also desired to have the flexibility in my schedule to spend more time with my family. Real Estate seemed like the best option to meet these needs, so I embraced the “no time like the present” mindset and made the change!

What were some of the challenges you faced during the Pandemic?

As I began my real estate career in 2021, the height of the pandemic was over, however its lingering effects as it relates to the financial market lingered. With historically low mortgage rates, an influx of buyers entered the market in the front half of 2022. Strong buyer demand and not enough houses available to purchase equaled an environment of extreme competition. The biggest challenge for my clients was buyer fatigue when their offers were 1 of 20 and they could not secure a home they loved. However, as my job is to educate clients on current market conditions and level set their expectations, I was able to help calm the heightened emotions that are natural during this process. With a new market here and on the horizon, it is important to focus on what the real story is. The news is flooded daily with doom and gloom stories, so using cold hard facts and data is the only way to explain the complete picture.

How can others learn from your commitment and inspiration? What’s most important to success?

What I’ve learned from my career so far is that a positive attitude can take you places. I pride myself on always putting forward a positive, contagious energy that makes people feel comfortable and at ease. That coupled with hard work, truly showing up, and not being distracted by all the noise is what makes all the difference.

Anything we missed?

I started a social media page on both Instagram and Facebook called ‘The Sunnyside of Cranford’. My intent was to create a space people could share inspiring and heartwarming stories that happen in our town.

Everyone needs a dose of positivity, especially in times like these, and this is my way of trying to spread that positivity. I post local stories I find on my own and also welcome submissions! So please follow @thesunnysideofcranford and message me with a story you’d like to share.
