From Billie Holiday to Billie Eilish: stream millions of songs for free with your library card
by Roz Giuditta, Publicist
You may be aware that you can download eBooks and eAudiobooks from your library, but did you know that you also have access to millions of popular music titles? Freegal® Music Service gives you the world of music at your fingertips to download or stream. You have access to millions of songs from more than 40,000 music labels worldwide.
The mobile app and website are easy to use and easy to download. The app is free, and if you are Westfield Memorial Library cardholder, you can download it for iOS, Android, and Kindle Fire devices.
Once you set up your own account, you can search a music library that changes daily. It’s safe to say that there are thousands of artists, tens of thousands of albums, and millions of songs. The Freegal Music website has hundreds of genres of music and is rich in many of them.
What makes it particularly fun is that you can create your own playlist. Westfield patrons can have three downloads per week and have a streaming limit of 3 hours per day. The download limit resets every Monday.
Whether you listen on a desktop or a mobile device, you also have the option to receive weekly notifications via email and text regarding your remaining downloads. You won’t miss out on any of the opportunities that you have to find the music you love and either keep it in your library or listen to it in the moment.
“Not every popular song is destined to be a classic,” said Allen McGinley, Library Director. “The great part about Freegal Music is that you can stream a song for a period of time, and then decide if it’s a song you need to own, or just one you want to borrow. Freegal also offers a great alternative to expensive audio streaming services.”
