Set For May 6
It’s a nature preserve. It’s a walker’s haven. It’s a learning environment. It’s a history lesson. It’s Brightwood Park! Yes, Brightwood is that hidden gem tucked away nicely on the north side of town, and a park that has gone through quite the transformation for the better in the past two years thanks to Friends of Brightwood Park ((FOBP) initiatives.
On May 6, Friends of Brightwood plan to pull out all the stops so that residents near and far can experience what the park has to offer, with a schedule of events all day long.

Where/why did you get your pet?
We got our cats during the pandemic two years ago from the Cat Crew Rescue. They are a super fantastic organization that helps to house abandoned cats. I had been asking for a cat for many years and my parents finally decided that we could get one. Luckily for me, Cipher had a sister who also needed a home, so I ended up with two cats.

with Type One Diabetes Changed
My Life for the Better
I was first diagnosed with Type One Diabetes (T1D) at age 10. I thought life as I knew it was over. I worried that diabetes would prohibit me from playing sports or having sleepovers with my friends. This, of course, was not how life with diabetes played out for me.
Shortly after my diagnosis, I found out about the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (JDRF) OneWalk, a three-mile walk that raises awareness and funds for T1D research. At that moment, Team Eden was born. Building a support system, raising funds and planning for our walk, I began to...

Can you provide a bit of history about your group? How long has it been around?
Project Playground was formed in September 2022 after we decided that it was time to create more accessible playgrounds at the Lincoln School in Westfield. As the public early childhood education center in Westfield, the Lincoln School is home to approximately 300 preschool and kindergarten students and is widely used by the children...
Investors came off a difficult year in 2022 – stocks fell into a bear market (defined as a decline of 20%+ from peak highs) and the bond market lost significant ground, as well. The stunning jump in inflation after years of very low interest rates made matters worse. Watching your investments and the value of the dollar depreciate simultaneously wasn’t easy – and the prospect of more volatility ahead has many investors nervous. As a financial advisor, I’ve fielded many of the below questions from my clients that you may also be contemplating. Keep in mind that while there is no single solution...
